Blackrock NeuroMed is pleased to announce that Andy Gotshalk, CEO, will present Advances in Neurosensing Technology at the Neurotech Leaders Forum to be held October 17-18, 2011 in San Francisco. Blackrock NeuroMed offers the neurotechnology industry the first high-definition EEG (electroencephalogram) brain activity recording and monitoring system for human neurological clinical applications. The flagship product, ‘Cervello Elite’ is the first system on the market that offers simultaneous EEG recording and single unit recording, with an easy to use software interface.

The Neurotech Leaders Forum is ‘the’ management and investment conference for neurotech professionals. The two-day conference offers an exclusive forum for neurotechnoloy executives and entrepreneurs to interact with investors, technologists and potential partners who are actively working to grow this new and exciting industry.

Gotshalk is CEO of BlackRock NeuroMed. He has more than fifteen years of experience in commercializing medical devices. Most recently Andrew successfully commercialized research products in the neurophysiology sector (Blackrock Microsystems) increasing revenue from $700k to +$11 million in less than four years. Prior to that Andrew was responsible for sales and operations for the Surgical Division of Haemonetics Corporation. Andrew has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Gotshalk will be speaking during the Consumer session on Tuesday, October 18. He will look at new technologies impacting the neurosensing industry, including new sensors, software, and imaging systems. He will also examine how current EEG products are limited by the amount of data provided. He will describe his option for higher resolution data and additional data streams that cover the need for improved levels of diagnosis and treatment capabilities for neurological disorders.

Neurotech Leaders Forum founder, James Cavuoto, enthusiastically recommends attending the session. “Andy’s company is changing the way research gets done. Their technology will enable products to get researched sufficiently and safely so they can get to market and help people who need them most.”

About Neurotech Leaders Forum
Debuted in 2001, Neurotech Leaders Forum covers a range of technologies and market segments in the neuro space, including neuromodulation, neural prosthetics, neurosensing, and neurorehabilitation. The 2011 keynote will be will delivered by Kip Ludwig, director for plasticity and repair at the NIH/NINDS. This year features a first-ever Consumer Neurotech Conference on October 18. The full-day meeting will include sessions on neuromarketing, gaming, training, and cognitive enhancement applications of neurotechnology. Dr. Jean Gotman, a leading expert in EEG recording and analysis, especially as it relates to epilepsy and source analysis, will lead the scientific advisory board of Blackrock NeuroMed.

Dr. Gotman is a professor at the Montreal Neurological Institute of McGill University and founder of Stellate Systems, Inc., a neuro-diagnostics company. He was trained as an electrical engineer, pursued a Master’s in Computer Science and holds a PhD degree in Neuroscience from McGill University.

“I am excited about Blackrock NeuroMed’s market position to fill a product gap in advanced clinical neuro-diagnostics and clinical research,” says Gotman. “The NeuroMed technology opens a new frontier in neuro-diagnostics and the Blackrock team brings strong product engineering and commercialization leadership to this industry.”

“We are very pleased to have Dr. Gotman as a part of our team,” says Andy Gotshalk, Blackrock Microsystems CEO. “He brings years of experience as a researcher and a successful businessman and is highly regarded in the field of clinical neuroscience.”

Blackrock NeuroMed’s new technology builds upon the technologies of Blackrock Microsystems to deliver sophisticated research capabilities integrated with an easy to use EEG system. “Currently, there is a gap in the field of clinical neuro-diagnostics where standard EEG systems can’t perform the sophisticated data collection and data analysis that newer electrode technologies enable,” remarks Gotshalk. “We are thrilled that our core platform technology has reached a point where we are expanding into clinical applications that impact patient needs.”
